Mallorca’s Club de Golf Alcanada provided the stunning venue for the climax to the third edition of the prestigious Porsche Golf Cup World Final, with sides from Asia dominating the team competition for the second year running.

Nearly 80 of the world’s top amateur club players from 16 countries gathered at the award-winning venue in the north of the sunshine island for the finale to the two-day tournament, with the team from Taiwan beating defending champions South Korea to win the Nations Cup with Japan third.

Germany also had plenty to celebrate as they completed a memorable individual double in the sunshine at Alcanada, with Laura Oker taking victory in the ladies’ singles competition and compatriot Gunar Petersen emerging triumphant in the men’s event.

More than 8,300 Porsche customers around the world took part in 152 qualifying tournaments ahead of this year’s final, which was played at Alcanada for the third year in a row.

Competitors from across the world including New Zealand, Mexico and all over Asia travelled to Mallorca to take part and be treated to a memorable three days on and off the course. As well as also playing 18 holes at Arabella Golf Son Vida, finalists had the chance to enjoy an exclusive dinner at the island’s highly-acclaimed Coast restaurant, in the chic marina of Port Adriano, and take part in a Porsche driving experience.

Oliver Hoffmann, director of experiential marketing at Porsche AG, who presented the trophies, said: “The enthusiasm of our customers who qualified for the world final is contagious. We were once again treated to top-class sport, and it is always nice to see how the participants from different nations all mingle and share their fascination for golf at this event.”

Kristoff Both, director of golf at Club de Golf Alcanada, said: “It was a real pleasure for the club to host such an important amateur competition for the third year running.

“The great thing about the event is that it bring players together from all over the world and gives them the chance to enjoy a five-star golfing experience in a sensational setting, something that is at the heart of what we offer all our members and visitors at Alcanada.”
