Where to play golf in Majorca?

Some of the most renowned clubs are:

• Alcanada: it was designed by the famous architect Robert Trent Jones Jr. and opened its doors to the public in 2003. It is located next to the Mediterranean Sea and its area combines naturally this scenery with the typical Majorcan countryside, plenty of pine and olive trees. Despite of being still new it is considered one of the best courses, not only in Spain but also in Europe and flaunts many awards to prove it.

• Andratx: situated in the south west, it is an excellent option that encircles some wonderful setting. It provides a real feeling with its olden stone walls in the middle of olive and almond trees. The field is well-thought-out as one of the most inspiring and exciting in the Mediterranean. The sixth hole (par-five) is called the Green Monster, because it is longer than 600 yards, the most extended in Spain.

• Bendinat: started as a 9-hole course in 1986, it was prolonged in 1995. It’s a par-70 option (located merely at 20-minute by car from Palma) that demands tactic, proficiency and settlement instead of brute force and muscle to reach the goal. Many of the greens are very difficult with abundant trees and water traps. It was planned by Martin Hawtree in a pretty spot surrounded by magnificent views, including the mountain in its back.

• Capdepera: working since 1989, it is a charming venue on the north east of the island, beside the Artá mountain range. Its designer was Dan Maples and exhibits some thin fairways interesting to make a negotiation. The stunning 15-hole with outstanding views of the sea and the valley was voted as the best of the Balearic by Mallorca Magazine.
