Green Corner: Overseeding 2014
- Thursday, 20 November 2014 16:04
Like every winter in a few weeks the temperature will start to lower and our grass will gradually lose its green colour. As usual we will overseed fairways, tees and roughs in order to maintain the green colour all year round. This year we will overseed most of the rough areas except for some which are some how out of play. We start seeding on the 3rd of november if the weather is appropriate. We will use Lolium perenne “equate”, new generation perennial ryegrass.
In order to get the best results we should closed the course to allow the seed to germinate and establish without players before the temperature become too cold. At the same time ideally the grass should be left uncut until it reaches 20mm. We currently cut the fairways at 10mm, the tees at 7mm. It is obviously impossible to close the course especially at this time of the year, so we would raise the mowing height slightly to help the grass establish without interfering to much with play. We will initially cut the fairways at 18mm, and the tees at 16mm.
DUE TO THESE OPERATIONS FROM NOVEMBER 3rd GOLF BUGGIES RULE WILL BE CART PATH ONLY UNTIL THE NEW GRASS IS ESTABLISHED
We apologise for the inconvenience that this operation may cause.
